Renewable energy is the future of power generation, and there are myriad reasons why we need to take it seriously. But the FBI is now proving that there are other less-discussed benefits to using renewable energy sources, too — namely, portability and how quietly they run.
The FBI is now planning a transition from the dusty old diesel generators it currently uses to Mobile Renewable Power Stations (or MRPS). Arista Power, who will make these generators explains how they work:
The MRPS for the FBI includes a patented, ducted WindTamer wind turbine, best in class solar cells, fuel cells, and a state-of-the-art energy storage and power distribution system. The system contains fully compatible AC/DC connectors and grid interconnects, is whisper quiet and produces no heat signature.
Not only is it sustainable, it’s stealthy. It’s amazing that something that could power a whole unit of FBI agents embedded in some far-off location could be silent — and it showcases another way that the green sector is a leader in innovation.
